questions
- 01Treatments start with the acupuncturist gathering some general information, feeling the pulse and looking at the tongue to gain a better understanding of what is happening within the body. The acupuncturist will insert needles into various parts of the body and then allow the person to rest with the needles in place. Afterwards, the acupuncturist removes the needles and provides any adjuncts, such as gua sha or cupping, if needed.
- 02Most people do not describe feeling pain while experiencing acupuncture. The most common sensations felt are a dull, achy, or tingly sensation. Often people doze off or fall asleep while the needles are in place.
- 03Loose fitting clothes are best. The acupuncturist will need to be able to roll up or move clothing to access arms, legs or torso.
- 04Individual acupuncture treatments are private and more personalized. Because these treatments are private, more areas of the body can be accessed and needled. Individual treatments can include additional modalities such as cupping, gua sha, and electroacupuncture. These treatments are held at 1350 Main St in Walpole and can be scheduled here.(https://innernorth.janeapp.com/#staff_member/1) Community acupuncture is held in a group setting with around 6-10 people. Only arms, legs, and the head are needled. This sessions are less expensive than an individualized treatment. These clinics are held a few days a month, usually on the weekends, at WeBreathe Wellness at 55 West St in Walpole. - 05Not at this time. A superbill can be provided upon request for individual acupuncture treatments. Please check with your insurance company prior to scheduling an appointment to see if this is an option. Superbills are not available for community acupuncture.
